DEDE'S STORY
When Dede D. was in seventh grade at Breakthrough, she decided to volunteer to be the Speaker of the House at the Minnesota Capitol for a day. She practiced ahead of time with Patrick, her teacher. After the First Year Celebration of her Breakthrough class, she met the Mayor of Saint Paul, Randy Kelly, who spoke briefly at the event. Following her first summer with Breakthrough Saint Paul, Dede was selected to be a member of the Murray Junior High Student Council.
