THE BREAKTHROUGH HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAM
Breakthrough provides ongoing services to students and families during high school as well. The goal is to keep students completing coursework that will prepare them for success in four-year colleges.
High School Program Highlights:
- Guidance through the high school research and selection process during winter of 8th grade using this guide.
- Each student receives a personal laptop to use for school as well as learning basic computer skills, doing online research, applying for college scholarships, and more. Read about the "Breakthrough Anywhere" pilot program.
- Individualized academic check-ins and support from the Breakthrough staff.
- Formal partnership with Admission Possible to provide rigorous ACT test preparation and college guidance to BSP students in 11th and 12th grade.
- Qualified students may participate in the Access Opportunity initiative, which helps BSP families take advantage of the MN Education Tax Credit and gain $1,000 annually for academic camps, music lessons, and tutoring.
- Optional tuition-free summer programs for BSP students such as the Breakthrough Leaders Program in 9th grade.
Given that our oldest group of students is in tenth grade, we do not yet have each piece of the high school program in place. Our strategic plan calls for us to roll out each new year of programming as this class progresses through high school.
