THE BREAKTHROUGH SCHOOL YEAR PROGRAM
During the school year, Breakthrough supports students in several ways. First, the Student & Family Liaison checks grades and attendance at least once a week, visits schools at least once a month, and holds students accountable for success in honors coursework. Second, the program holds 12-14 Saturday sessions each year to offer additional challenge and support to students.
School Year Program Highlights:
- Individualized academic check-ins and support from the Breakthrough staff
- Additional enrichment courses that stress skills in writing, math, and science
- Classes that are all taught and designed by college and high school students, trained by professional educators
- Guidance in applying for at least one scholarship or contest each year
- Daily activities like basketball, soccer, arts and crafts, board games in YO Time
Saturday Schedule
It is important to note that the Saturday sessions usually start at 9:00 a.m. and go until 12:30 p.m. If you apply, be prepared to wake up earlier than usual on Saturday.
